5 SENSES WEEK
[September 19-23]
[September 19-23]
On Monday, we focused on our sense of SIGHT! We performed the coolest experiment with skittles and water!
On Tuesday, we focused on our sense of HEARING! We played a game called Mystery Eggs. This is a game where we all had eggs with different things in them that produced different sounds and we all had to work together to find the matches.
On Wednesday, we focused on our sense of TOUCH! We made GAK and had so much fun playing with it! We can't wait to make GAK again!!!
On Thursday, we focused on our sense of SMELL! We closed our eyes and Ms. Patterson brought in a mystery item. We could tell what it was just by using our noses; the mystery item was POPCORN!!! We then described the popcorn by using all 5 of our senses!
On Friday, we focused on our sense of TASTE! We got to make home-made ice-cream! We made it in a homemade ice-cream machine and in a icecream ball! We had so much fun and it sure tasted YUMMMMY! (:

Fun Friday= POPCORN & MOVIE DAY
We have started a new behavior incentive that has been working great! It is called Brownie Points, every time the whole class does something great or gets a compliment from another treat they receive a "brownie point" on the board. If we get 10 by Friday the class gets a reward on FUN FRIDAY! This past week the kids easily got their 10 brownie points and they got to have a MOVIE & POPCORN DAY!!! They love this new system and work so hard to get brownie points! (:

Learning While Playing
We had an AMAZING COLOR WEEK!!!
Our sweet babies are already learning and growing so much! I missed them like crazy while I was at training! It was so great to come back to so much love, hugs, & "I missed you's"! I want to thank all of you for everything that you do for your child! Ms. Dix and I are truly blessed with a wonderful group of Pre-K kiddos and we are soooo excited for the rest of this year! Sorry that this post is so late, this week has been crazy busy!

ABC Name Practice:
This activity really helped our sweet students to work on their fine motor skills, color knowledge, and to work on their letters. They tore their favorite color construction paper into tiny pieces and glues them onto the first letter of their name! They loved this activity and they turned out super cute!!!
BIG SISTER STORY TIME:
Charlie's big sister, Birdie, & Mia's big sister, Zoey, both earned enough Class Dojo points to read to a younger class and we were lucky enough to be chosen by both of them! We LOVED hearing their stories!!!

WALKING WATER EXPERIMENT:
This experiment was absolutely amazing and so much fun! We started by putting a few drops of red, blue, & yellow food coloring into 3 cups of water! We then put those in a circle and put an EMPTY cup between each color. We then connected each cup with a paper towel. We did not tell the kids what was going to happen. We explained what a PREDICTION was and they all drew what the predicted was going to happen! A few students were correct with their prediction!! They really learned last week when we mixed liquids! The next day we checked the cups and new colors were created: ORANGE, GREEN, & PURPLE!!!! The kids were amazed with the "walking" water!!!

WE LOVE CENTERS!!!
Center time has become one of our favorite times of the day! Our sweet students are really becoming GREAT friends and learning so much as they play together during centers!
Mixing Liquids:
On Wednesday we continued practicing mixing our colors. But we did it by mixing water that has food coloring in it. We first put red, yellow, and blue food coloring drops in 3 separate cups of water. We then mixed the liquids together to create GREEN, PURPLE, and ORANGE. The kids were amazed my this activity!!
Mixing Paint Colors:
On Tuesday we learned that mixing colors creates new colors. We mixed yellow paint with blue paint to create GREEN. We mixed red paint with blue paint to create PURPLE. We also mixed yellow paint with red paint to create ORANGE.
This past Friday we were scientists! We performed two experiments. The first one was called Disappearing Pepper, and the next was called Magic Milk. The videos and pictures are posted below!
